Hey guys! We got an email from the Alexandrites:

"Susan in our system is doing a photography project for school and was wondering if you would be willing/available to be photographed some time in the next few weeks? The project is supposed to incorporate multiple exposure techniques, and she thought it would be interesting to use that to capture different members of one system in a single photo. [...] if you know any other systems who would be into this, let us know, it would be super helpful 😅

"I'm only able to do the Northeast, maybe as far up as Southern NH/VT, but would prefer the general tri-state area of MA, CT, and RI. Some time in the next 2-3 weeks, the absolute last day I can do is November 20th.

"The photos will be used for a school photography project. The only people who will find out the subjects are plural will be the 7 people in my class. There is a chance the photo will be displayed in the hallway of the school, but probably not a very high chance since it will be the end of the semester. If they are particularly good, they may go into my portfolio, but that's not something I display online, only something I show to some people in person."

If anyone is interested, you can contact Alexandrites at wearealexandra@gmail.com or WeAreAlexandra on Discord!

We had fun making a little headmate relationship map. :B Originally intended for our therapist, since our brain is throwing a lot of old names into the mix that she has no reason to have heard of.

Sneak: You might've noticed I totally gave up on the remaking of the Plural Code a while back. So many people had done it, I wasn't sure I really had anything better to offer. (House of Chimeras list four different ones, and that's not including the SB Code or the 2015 Plurality Resource Forum version.)

Then, much more recently, I learned about the 2018 Plural Spectrum Tool from the Plural Association!

We attempted to fill it out, but we had a really hard time. We have trouble plotting things on scales of ten, unless we have the scale written down for what exactly each number stands for. There were a couple criteria I just couldn't fill out, like pride. And I also wasn't sure exactly what some of the criteria meant. (Do they mean memory sharing for the vessel only? Or in-head or otherworld stuff too? Is stability a measure of distress or impairment? Does internal communication mean on-purpose, by accident, both? What's the difference between elaboration, co-consciousness, and memory sharing?)

Nevertheless, I got out my spiral, did my best to plot all the scales, and here's our result!
We did it wrong. :( What if I remade it? :D )

Just a couple weeks ago, Asphodel Meadows did a revision of the old-ass Multiples Code!  I am officially an old, not knowing what most of those -genic words are. (And having no interest in using them.)

[personal profile] hungryghosts  wrote a thing about the limits of therapy.

This code was for soulbonders! (That is, folks who felt emotional resonance with media characters.  This ranged from feeling like a character "wrote itself" to said character being a fronting system member like any other.)

Neither the Soulbond Code nor the Multi Code have been really updated in fifteen years or more!  I found myself wondering, maybe it'd be neat to try and smoosh them together and overhaul them into a plural code! @_@ What do you think?  Do people even use those codes anymore?  I guess it'd just be for fun...

The Multi Code was a goofy little old-school meme that allowed multiples to condense an immense amount of information about their system into a string of esoteric nonsense.

An example: MuC N- [f] S.H+/Hf+/Uz&Uv;/Sa/Sg+/Sh/Rg A(b+ r---!/++) Os/c Wm+ Cc- OF- Pspi!/pre Fxb/s/pc^/a T+ Jm Dg R(--/+) C+++ S--

One of the multi books I own is the entire run of Madison Clell's Cuckoo, which covers roughly thirteen floppy comic issues, a trade paperback that doesn't contain all the material but is easier to carry, and a screenplay.

This isn't really a post about Cuckoo. I just wanted to share these specific pages, which as far as I know are NOT in the trade paperback, just a couple of the floppy issues. (Which, due to space constraints, sometimes duplicated material.) It's possibly my favorite part.

So, it turns out HMS_Beagles, who haven't been around since 2011, still had their email account up all this time.  People were sending them emails about adding sites to the healthymultiplicity.com list as late as 2015!  Which is embarrassing; I had no idea. (And even then, it never would've occurred to me I could or should access their account.)

Before I delete the account, I've been manually wading through all the spam and sending messages informing everyone that Beagles is gone, the listing is gone, and for all other inquiries, they should email us instead.

But in the process, conveniently, I happen to get a hard citation for the creation of the multiplicity symbol--you know, the one with the interlocking circles?  People on tumblr are apparently claiming it's a DID-only symbol now, and here's hard proof that it's not, because the creator, ouregaiya, emailed it to Beagles when they created it in October 2011.  Ouregaiya are still active, and about as hardcore as it's possible to be, as far as medicalization of DID goes; their site reads, "Multiplicity is not an illness or disorder."

A screencap, for evidence:Cut to avoid spam. )

Cool stuff by plurals and friends! Weeded 3/12/2022 and links corrected.
  • Phineas Frogg's Disability T-shirts: queer, disability, and politics T-shirts.
  • Books, essays, poetry, fiction, and nonfiction by Akwaeke Emezi. Their first book Freshwater is about an Igbo metaphysical experience of plurality. Their essay The Mask As The Truest Thing is also worth a read!
  • Books and zines by Meg-John Barker. They've made a LOT of stuff, but they have a post putting all their plural stuff together here.
  • Space Robot Studio, which includes great things like multi pride jewelry.
  • Cuckoo, by Madison Clell: autobio comics about having DID.
  • got parts? An Insider's Guide to Managing Life Successfully with DID, by ATW: a DID self-help book by a DID system.  Basic nuts and bolts. ATW died in 2016 of cancer complications, and the website seems to be down, but copies are still around on Amazon.
  • When Rabbit Howls and A Creature of Habit, by the Troops for Truddi Chase. A Creature of Habit was published after they died and isn't directly about plurality; When Rabbit Howls is better, in our opinion.
  • I’m Eve and A Mind of My Own, by Chris Costner Sizemore.  Ms. Sizemore has also passed on, sadly, and while she's most known for Three Faces of Eve, the books written by her in her own words are more important. Her papers are also a special collection at Duke)
  • And of course, we, LB Lee, have a Patreon (for fiction, art, and comics), and ebooks and paper comics.
