Sneak: healthymultiplicity.com's filehosting started working again finally, so I have uploaded Papierfliegerfalter's translation of a 1791 German medical multi case! As far as I know, this is the first time it's been translated into English, rather than just summarized, and papierfliegerfalter have graciously granted permission for it to be spread publicly!

We also book-scanned Baldwin's Oneselves: Multiple Personalities, 1811-1981, which has never been digitized, as far as I know, and Orion Scribner fixed it up and made it screenreadable! It's now uploaded too, hooray! It's a bunch of thumbnail sketches of various multi cases from the time period in the title.

The next chunk of Alter Boys In Love, GIDID, has been uploaded! This was a zine follow-up to FTMPD (I clearly didn't learn my lesson about naming things after esoteric portmanteau-ed acronyms), made in 2016, when Biff and I were newly together.

As before, the text-only script version for the whole book is here.

EDIT: I also said to hell with it and reorganized our healthymultiplicity.com comics page to be in reverse-chronological order per CREATION date, rather than UPLOAD date, because I was sick of having old stuff like Edward Cullen Adventures up top.

EDIT 2: I really with healthymultiplicity.com's file manager wouldn't log me out constantly, including when I'm in the middle of uploading a file.

Sneak: I've bugfixed more of healthymultiplicity.com! Dillo is truly the best, it's made error fixing and access testing so much easier. T_T All that remains are our individual comics pages, which... ooh, that's a lot. (In the future, we might just upload .PDFs or .CBZs for anything longer than a couple pages, because manually making individual web pages for each comics page really racks up fast every time I update the site.)

It's still trapped in HTML 4, but upgrading everything to HTML 5 manually is a no thank you today.

Also, Orion OCR-ed My Double Mystic Marriages to Two Goddesses of Love: an Interview, so now all of our bookscanned PDFs are at least somewhat screenreadable and searchable! :D They also converted that big old bibliography into plain text, which I'm thinking of manually editing and posting up here! :D

Reminder that our fire sale of originals is ongoing! We're over halfway to our goal, which is amazing, since it helps staunch the financial bleeding of having to leave in a hurry.

In other news, [personal profile] frameacloud graciously took some of Ye Olde Multi Book scans we did and fed them through OCR, meaning they're now decently screenreadable and searchable! Here are the new links:
Please rehost and spread these files all over the place, so they won't be lost and forgotten! I have made them their own webpage on healthymultiplicity.com so they don't get buried. Sneak's also taken the opportunity to debug some of the site, but that's a task still ongoing.)

We found a 1791 record that predates Mary Reynolds in the medical multiplicity realm. )

Aaaaand more on that Billy Joel cultiple. No grim details behind the cut, but we link to the legal case which DOES have grim details. )

Sneak: I added language tags to all the [community profile] pluralstories catalog entries that originally came in a non-English language, and I have saved local copies of all the self-published ebooks, short stories, and manageable webcomics. X_X I am bushed, but ARCHIVEROT SHALL NOT DEFEAT ME! I SHALL MAINTAIN!

We now have 155 entries in the catalog! The old Multiple Personality and Dissociation Booklist had 161 entries; pluralstories is so close to reaching it! And I now have entries in the alphabetical index under every letter of the alphabet except Q! Those are my two remaining goals for the catalog. So close... so close...

Hey guys. So, since moving, we are having computer troubles: we can no longer upload files to Patreon, Itch.io, and Bigcartel. (Youtube also doesn't work much anymore, but who cares about Youtube.) I had more to upload this month, but sorry, patrons don't get to have them yet because my horrible workaround is horrible:

* scan images using desktop
* email them to my broken welfare smartphone (but the only email I can use with broken desktop has a strict 8 MB file limit, so I have to break the downloads up--no ebooks over that size, which axes basically all my large stuff, that's why y'all haven't gotten a test draft of Madgic 3!)
* download files to broken welfare smartphone (which has barely any storage)
* upload them to website (even though broken welfare smartphone's keyboard keeps breaking so I can't give you the CWs)

It's time consuming and horrible. I hate it.

This seems to be due to us using an old OS (maybe? we think?) and we are sick of the Windows escalator, so we are switching over to Linux. This will require learning a new system (Cinnamon Mint, if you're curious), reinstalling all our programs and hardware, and trying to get them to play nice with each other. We are basically trying to clear our plate so we can devote July to this sure-to-be-unpleasant process.

So right now, we are working on backing up all our files and preparing for a new install. Please stand by. I promise, once I can actually send and upload files larger than 8 MB, Patreon supporters will get some treats in reward for this nonsense. I'm sitting on stuff I WANT to give you and JUST CAN'T due to to tech problems at this time.

EDIT: oh sweet mother of entropy even viewing the stuff I've paid for on Patreon is now nigh-impossible. And when I save images to my hard drive to avoid this problem (have I mentioned how I hate some of Patreon's UI?), I can only save them in .webp, which my computer cannot open, and I can't convert them using online converters because that part of my computer is broken.

*pterodactyl shriek of outrage, shoves the whole mess at Bob and Sneak to sort out*

We have massively updated our section of healthymultiplicity.com's Free Read page by adding the following short comics and zines (most of which were also posted here or on Deviantart at some point):
We've also reuploaded our very old comics Questions from 2010 and This is Mac, This is Rogan from 2008. At this point, they're so old they now may prove useful for historical citations of certain subcultures and language use at the time.

A big long rambly thing about why we put those up, and what we hope to keep doing. )
lb_lee: a penguin saying "Just because you decide to sell out doesn't mean anyone's going to buy!" ($ellingout)
It wasn't something I consciously realized I was doing, but within the past couple days, I realized that the healthymultiplicity.com resource index is overwhelmingly books or self-owned websites (or their Wayback Machine archived versions), even though that has become comparatively rare. A lot of why I use them as citations boils down to stability and accessibility.

I'm sick and doped on decongestants, which means I'm too out of it to work, but also kinda bored. So rambling about cataloging. Sorry folks, you'll probably get a bunch of random sickposts today. )

Sneak: The back cover of Red and Blue didn't upload correctly, so I fixed that. We also decided to add the following text to that page:

"Did you find this comic useful? Please consider donating to a Texas abortion fund, like Frontera Fund, the Texas Equal Access Fund, or the Lilith Fund. It may save a life."

Rogan: In keeping with our rule to never request donations we haven't made ourself, we have donated $500 to the Lilith Fund.

The antidote to despair and helplessness is action. And I can't make it to the damn protests due to public transit shutdowns.

EDIT: See also, this list of abortion zines!

EDIT 2: Wow, boy howdy, someone on archive.org is uploading a BUTTLOAD of abortion zines even as I speak! Keep an eye on this, it's still loading stuff!

Rogan: I haven't uploaded a free comic that wasn't only a page or two for a very long time, but apparently this did it. Red and Blue is now available in its entirety for free on my website, all 32 pages of it, and so is the text-only version. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate getting paid for it. I badly want to get paid for it. But I also had to speak, and this is the closest to a coherent response I have. Let me know if a link is broken; I tested it beforehand, but sometimes something slips by.

Sneak: I also took the opportunity to fix the Paypal button and also add RSS feeds to both our website specifically and to the healthymultiplicity.com index in general. I've tested them both and they seem to be working. I hope they prove useful to people, so they don't have to check back for updates, which are sporadic!

Work stuff

lb_lee: Rogan drawing/writing in a spiral. (art)
  • Uploaded a new digitized sketchbook to Itch.io, the one covering from January 2013 through September 2014. $10
  • Paywalled some of my previously-free ebooks.
  • Updated the Comics Ebook Megapack, so it now it contains all comics and illustrated zines we've made since 2007 (except for Bring Me The Head of Phineas Gage). Raised the price accordingly, to $70.
  • Multi Orgasmic has been out for a little over two weeks and sold over 50 copies. I don't think I've ever sold so much so fast. Holy shit.

Cool stuff by plurals and friends! Weeded 3/12/2022 and links corrected.
  • Phineas Frogg's Disability T-shirts: queer, disability, and politics T-shirts.
  • Books, essays, poetry, fiction, and nonfiction by Akwaeke Emezi. Their first book Freshwater is about an Igbo metaphysical experience of plurality. Their essay The Mask As The Truest Thing is also worth a read!
  • Books and zines by Meg-John Barker. They've made a LOT of stuff, but they have a post putting all their plural stuff together here.
  • Space Robot Studio, which includes great things like multi pride jewelry.
  • Cuckoo, by Madison Clell: autobio comics about having DID.
  • got parts? An Insider's Guide to Managing Life Successfully with DID, by ATW: a DID self-help book by a DID system.  Basic nuts and bolts. ATW died in 2016 of cancer complications, and the website seems to be down, but copies are still around on Amazon.
  • When Rabbit Howls and A Creature of Habit, by the Troops for Truddi Chase. A Creature of Habit was published after they died and isn't directly about plurality; When Rabbit Howls is better, in our opinion.
  • I’m Eve and A Mind of My Own, by Chris Costner Sizemore.  Ms. Sizemore has also passed on, sadly, and while she's most known for Three Faces of Eve, the books written by her in her own words are more important. Her papers are also a special collection at Duke)
  • And of course, we, LB Lee, have a Patreon (for fiction, art, and comics), and ebooks and paper comics.
