Mac: When we went to the Brattle Bookstore with [personal profile] nevanna, we found a gem: The Playbook for Men - About Sex by Joani Blank (AKA the founder of Good Vibrations). It's a little 23 page sex-ed workbook/pamphlet/zine thing that's almost fifty years old and really good! Definitely making me feel inspired for Multi Orgasmic 2! (AKA Multi Moregasmic!)

Joani Blank made three of these workbooks: one for women, one for men, and one for children. Only the one for children has ever been digitized, and she did it herself after Down There Press, which she founded, got sold off to someone else who took all her stuff out of print. Now you can only get them secondhand for like $45 on Amazon.

Our own copy is this beautifully handlettered work of art, and still holds its own today. Basically every sex ed manual we've encountered since owes a debt to these. We feel like a lot of people would find it handy today, so we digitized it. (It's not screenreadable. That's a problem for Future LB.)

Ms. Blank died a few years back, and these zines look to be impossible to find, so we hope this means you can print out copies for yourself to use! Keep her memory alive!

Mac: it was my birthday yesterday! I'm 44. I got some kaju katli for a treat, grabbed a book on Ida Craddock (who married a spirit and made sex ed material a hundred years ago), had a good workout, and hung out with a friend, watching a Takarazuka performance of Baddy: the Bad Lot Comes From the Moon, about a bad boy from the moon who comes to disrupt goody-two-shoes Earth with smoking, bank robbery, and coolness. There were people dressed like lobsters in it. It was perfect.

A good birthday!

Rogan: I LIIIIIIIVE! Yesterday was my first day out of mask/quarantine hell which means I was finally up to doing stuff besides lying there miserably. So I took the chance to ink and/or color a bunch of sketches that had backed up over the past few months.Rogan, Mac, Bob, Grey, and even FANART! (Gasp) Lots of color noodling, some everyday nudity. )

Mac: Decided to watch BloodSisters today, a documentary from 1995 about the leather dyke subculture in San Francisco! It was really good! Recommended! And it gave me some thoughts.

Mac: In my hunt for older gay spiritual sexuality books, I found out that one of the books I'm looking for, the Divine Androgyne According to Purusha, is damn near impossible to find and apparently never digitized... but that the writer, Christopher Larkin directed an early gay film, A Very Natural Thing, in 1974, which is available on archive.org! I had to watch it.

Mac: The ER stole the spotlight there, but this past Saturday, me and Ro had a potluck celebrating our 16th get-together-versary! We had maybe 15 people show up?

And it was a good crowd! Nobody knew everybody, but everybody knew SOMEBODY (besides us, I mean). Mixed demographics: some were singlets who knew us through comics, others were plural friends from the meet-up, others were friends we met from other social stuff or past roommates. There was a lot of delicious homemade food, and I had fun circulating around talking to everybody.

People used to get up in our face about "shoving our relationship into other people's faces." (For all I know, they still do, but they have the common decency to do it behind our back where I don't have to hear it.) But you know what I so don't regret? Being able to have fun potluck parties in the park, eating homemade spring rolls, brownies, and potato salad. I don't regret that AT ALL. I LIKE having parties!

The ER

Mac: ugh. Spent most of yesterday and all of last night in the ER. We are okay, but have a new thing to keep an eye on. (Mori: we got a monster ovary full of blood, teeth, and hair!) I'm worn out and catching up on sleep and food (neither of which I got at the ER, since surgery was a possibility).

I have been declared Loony-Brain MVP of the month and everyone's going to spoil me rotten now. I plan to take full advantage of that because by god, I deserve it! And I'm also glad it was me. Normally Ro or M.D. would've got pulled for that, but they both have major medical phobias, so better it be me. (Though Ro stayed with me to give me company and eat pain for me.)

Mac cut his hair. (Or rather, had Sneak do it for him.) It's now shorter than it's ever been, the whole time he's lived here.

So, I guess Biff decided he really wanted to be on my good side for my birthday, so he planned this big delicious meal for me as a gift.  He baked a chicken, stir-fried some kale, and toasted some rolls, and the chicken came out amazing, but NOTHING compared to the amazingly gay pie he made me.  Seriously, look at this thing!

A delicious pink berry pie.

It's a raspberry blackberry pie.  Cost a fortune, all those berries, but oh man, so worth it.  This pie was AMAZING.  I'm going to want it for every birthday after this, because WOW.  The pie didn't last the evening.  RIP, pie.  You were much beloved.

Good job, Biff.  I like you.  You can stay.
