lb_leeRogan: It was a tie between "Old Man Yaoi" and "Cult Comix" this poll, but December is dark enough without cultery, so I exercised my blogly fiat. Besides, "Old Man Yaoi" has contextual relevance, because it's about Coming In or Staying Out, which is now officially up for sale in the violet and bubblegum pink Riso edition! $20, 24 pages, printing so pretty you'll want to rub it across your face!

At a con, a random person holds up a copy of Coming In or Staying Out and asks, "Is this an old man yaoi?"
Rogan, 37 years old, hands clasped and customer service smile pasted to his face, says nothing but his thought bubble reads, "bones... crumbling to dust..."
Biff (45) just says, "fuck's an old man yaoi."
After a brief explanation, Mori barges in like the gutterpunk she is, pointing at Biff and declaring, "It's because you got all this gray hair!"
"You GAVE me this gray hair!" Biff rejoins, while Rogan laughs and takes off his glasses to rub his eyes.
Meanwhile, Bob (72) wanders in and asks, "Hey kids, what'd I miss?" Rogan throws his arms out like Vanna White displaying a brand new car and declares, "See, now THIS is an old man yaoi!"
"Damn right!" Bob says, because he knows how to play along with a gag.
Meanwhile, off-screen, Biff and Mori are totally ignoring them both. "This gray hair?" Biff says. "You. This one over here? You." To which Mori grins and responds, "Mementos to remember me by, hahaha!"

Although, I do think people are kind of too loose with calling things "old man yaoi"... Like, "yaoi" makes you think of teens and twenty-somethings because that's what slash shipping in anime fandom (and original BL manga works from Japan) usually focuses on, right? But to me a person starts being an "old man" (or old woman, or old person, etc) in like... their late 60s? Fifties at absolute youngest? There's gotta be a better funny name for the grey area between "young man (default) yaoi" and "old man yaoi"... it's out there. Waiting to be carved from limestone by some brave linguistic genius, a modern Shakespeare of shitposts and slang...
(Also, it strikes me as rude to call real people "old man yaoi" to their face? Even if the con-goer didn't necessarily realize that's what they're doing. Obviously you took it in good humor enough to make a comic, though.)

It’d be so fucked if his body never changed over all the years, like he has to stay the same forever, frozen in amber from the moment I met him, as though that was perfection and everything else a downgrade!
