"Mother, this lap is defective. Fix it!"

So, the cats apparently adopt various roommates and their rooms so as to maintain somewhat separate territories. We (and our room) have been adopted by Tiptoe, a sixteen-year-old lady who meows like she smoked a pack every day of her nine lives.



Well, Mori was crunching on a Xenogals deadline for Watertown Zine fest, which meant working at our standing drafting table. Tiptoe kept trying to get on the keyboard, and Mori kept gently but firmly booting her off.

So Tiptoe went to her human, meowing her head off.

"What is it, Tiptoe?" her human asked.

Wondering if Timmy was trapped down a well, Tiptoe's human followed her. Tiptoe led him to our room, walked inside, and looked at her human expectantly, as though reporting a complaint to HR. (Mori, wearing headphones and deaf to the world, was completely oblivious to all of this.)

"I'm sorry, Tiptoe," her human said. "You could've chosen the human with no boundaries, but you didn't. You're stuck with LB now."

Tiptoe has done this multiple times now. It has not worked. Her space heater (lap) has not returned at beck and call. Alas, poor pushcat.

I am giggling irl at a cat going to another human to complain that this human is not behaving as expected! The cat requires attention! This is terrible customer service XD

Rogan: yeah, Tiptoe is banned from the keyboard since she hopped up and instacrashed our computer during a Zoom meeting. NEVER AGAIN.

Aww! Maybe she needs a Tiptoe approved spot on the desk? Like a little folded up blanket or towel or cat bed. And she gets a little cozy spot by the chosen human multivariate entity and occasional scritches, instead of trying to sleep on the keyboard lol

We have had some success at this, but sometimes she just seems to want to wander around and get up in our face until it becomes clear that we will not amuse her, at which point she resigns herself to settling in the designated Cat Nest.

Every once in a while, she wants all the lap time all day and acts like she has never been loved in all her sixteen years.
