So, I'd heard of Laura Jane Grace and her band Against Me! way back in the tumblr days, but I'd kinda bounced off her. (Even though... trans punk rock? Why wouldn't I love that?)

Well, Mori rediscovered her, went, "MY PEOPLE!" and it turns out we just really like her energy in live performance a lot better! And archive.org has a bunch of 'em! So here's some of our favs!
  • her 2017-10-14 performance at Brooklyn Steel of Transgender Dysphoria Blues (yes, this one specifically, due to her patter at the start)
  • her 2022 performance at August Hall, covering the Mountain Goats' The Greatest Death Metal Band from Denton (which is just a great song in general, but this one involves the hilarious thing at the end of a girl in the crowd screaming, "Can I throw my bra?" and Grace replying, "You... you don't ASK to throw your bra, you just throw your fuckin' bra!")
  • her August Hall 2022 performance of So Long, Farewell, Auf Weidersehen, Fuck Off. (Her recorded version just didn't give me the same feel at all. The live version is full of FUCK YOU rage.)
  • her 2021 performance of "Black Me Out" where the whole crowd is singing along with her and screaming that they love her. (I'm going to have to link the whole set because archive.org is having problems and I can't pull up the link of the song right now.) (This song is probably the most Mori song ever made.)

She's on bandcamp, both as herself and Against Me! so toss her some bucks if you like her work! We also really love her songs "Dysphoria Hoodie," "True Trans Soul Rebel," and her performance of "Androgynous" with Joan Jett and Miley Cyrus!

(also—Black Me Out was on our top 10 for the first three months of our recovery. definitely resonate with it and it's a good song)
