lb_leeThe LJ soulbonding comm has been purged recently--within the past year, tops. But since I've had to trawl through it for records pretty regularly up until now, it was probably within the last six months or so.
I'm kinda sad, honestly. There was a lot of community history there, and now it's mostly just gone. As far as I know, there was no archive made here on DW. Obviously we've scraped and downloaded about everything there that we wanted, because we're records-hoarding paranoids, but other people probably didn't have a chance to do so.
On the other hand, I guess now our first explorations into plurality via soulbonding are gone, which might be just as well. I didn't have the heart to delete them, even though they were embarrassing and my opinions and such have changed a lot in the ensuing decade plus. (Random factoid: we ended up on Encyclopedia Dramatica from some of that stuff, which is kinda hilarious since what we ended up on ED for was kinda random and silly? Nothing for me to really be ashamed of.)

Date: 2018-06-21 01:59 am (UTC)That doesn't surprise me. ED is just... a mess. At best, you can get leads on OTHER gossip that leads to an actual proper source, but it's a last resort at best.
At least the site has been booted around so much it doesn't seem very easy to search. And random pages get taken down, to no rhyme or reason I can tell.
We were just on there under our old screen-name because we mentioned other system members... doing ordinary things to help us out. Like doing homework or helping us get through tough doctor's appointments. I don't know WHY that would be so ED-worthy, but hey, far be it from me to complain!

...but holy crap did that mean I had to convert way more sources into screencaps than I planned. Roughly a third of my sources needed screencapping, often just because the link rotted out from under me!

So while the soulbonding comm is in itself purged, there are still (for the moment) little ephemeral Google cache pages, and Wayback Machine bits, and probably some oddballs like us who've saved bits and pieces for their own bit...
But it's all much harder to find and share, of course. For better or worse. No lie, I wish someone HAD DW-archived the soulbonding comm though, so much history lost or made damn near impossible to find now!
That said godDAMN am I glad I fucking downloaded everything in the Great Deletion Race against Draven in 2016. Over four-hundred sources, and I only lost a few Facebook posts, which thankfully were all extremely trivial in content.
