Story and Essay Back-ups Because of Fuckin' Mississippi

Due to Dreamwidth having to block views from all Mississippi users, I'm going to have to fucking take every single story and essay on this damn website and mirror and back it up on healthymultiplicity.com.

Mississippi's requirements are strict:

This act applies only to a digital service provider who provides a digital service that:
(a) Connects users in a manner that allows users to socially interact with other users on the digital service;
(b) Allows a user to create a public, semi-public or private profile for purposes of signing into and using the digital service; and
(c) Allows a user to create or post content that can be viewed by other users of the digital service, including sharing content on:

(ii) A chat room; or
(iii) A landing page, video channel or main feed that presents to a user content created and posted by other users.

So this includes Dreamwidth (and all other Livejournal clones), Fanfiction.net, an AOL Instant Messenger chat room, a forum, presumably Patreon and itch.io... but oddly probably not 4chan, since that has no profiles! healthymultiplicity.com is kinda my only option, because the site allows for no social interaction.

I am very sorry for the inconvenience. Having my work accessible to the public is extremely important to me, but man, the past couple months have been pretty rough when it comes to politicians and payment processors getting between me and my willing readers!

This job may not be well-paying or respectable, but it is MY fucking job and I am DETERMINED to fucking do it, because it is worth doing. People have told me how much my work has helped them, and I'm not going to let some crusty old douchewaffles with too much money and power stop me just because they learned what erotic hypnosis is and clutched their pearls.

Which is probably going to lead to the law being struck down in court. Which is no comfort in the meantime.

Rogan: Meh, at this point, I'm letting Feral Rat take the wheel and just act as though this will be the start of a greater wave. There is no harm to me in backing up all my relevant writing and spreading it around; the more people who have it, the harder it'll be to scrub it off the Internet, and hey, making ebooks means I have PRINT zines to sell of them at cons! So it's work I should get off my ass to do anyway.

Absolutely! Email is unaffected by the MS legislation (so far). If I gotta do a monthly newsletter or something, I can. The sci-fi library still does that!

Mississippi (and the UK, but DW's UK user count is low enough not to be affected) have passed legislation that's ostensibly to protect children... by collecting shitloads of information about them so they can use the Internet. Dreamwidth won't (and can't) do that, so all MS addresses are blocked from viewing the site.

(Seriously, how annoying. I mean, I've had plans for stuff like this for a while, but I admit, this one wasn't one I had a precise road-map for. I mean, I will likely have it done by the end of the week, but still, what a pain.)
