Rogan: Hey, so, a friend was asking for recommendations on erotic work to stockpile and activated my amateur semi-library tendencies. And I wrote off so many I thought I should make a post about it. All of these are available in hard copy, or at least WERE. (Making this list made me realize how many had gone out of print... lament.)

Feel free to ask if you want specific kinks or themes! Leave your own recommendations in the comments! Anon comments are turned on!

PROSE

Most of the prose we have is more romance than porn, and it isn't the stuff we can in good faith recommend to others. (Oh, Chrome by George Nader, how you own my heart with your cheesy '70s gay asexual robots who run away to Space Sparta...) The one exception is KJ Charles, who mostly writes cis M/M historical romance. You might have to hunt around to find her works in hard copy, but I really loved...

Wanted, a Gentleman: a wealthy white teenage girl runs off with a man she meets on the Regency internet (the personals ads) and her crusty old family turn to the slave they emanicpated to bring her back. He is very Not Thrilled but also relentlessly ethical; the daughter never harmed him, and he doesn't want bad things to befall her, so he joins forces with the white guy who runs the personal ads and who'd sell used cars if they existed in 1805. ROMANCE ENSUES. It's funny, very well-paced, and I think a lot about its theme of "forced gratitude" and the resentment of "these people were awful to me but could've been so much worse, and I hate that." M/M

Unfit to Print: an Indian lawyer and relentless crusader for what's right discovers his mixed-race former best school chum (who disappeared a decade ago, and who he presumed dead) is selling shitty porno books in a crummy part of town. They join forces to find a missing young rent boy. Didn't like it as much as I loved Wanted, a Gentleman, but still enjoyed it!

Miranda also really liked Brendan and the Beast, by Fox Beckwith. It took twenty years, but it finally came out in paperback! More romance than porn, but if you want gay Beauty and the Beast, it delivers. M/M

COMICS

The vast majority of what I know. I'm a queer independent cartoonist who knows a lot of other queer independent cartoonists; making porn is a common way to pay the bills. If you want to just dip your toes in or figure out what you like, try some anthologies; they'll give you a bunch of artists to choose from, and it seems likely you'll find at least ONE you like! (And every anthology worth its salt will tell you where to find more of the artist's work.)

The Nectar and Ambrosia trans erotic comics anthologies from Discord Comics are great, and it looks like they're having a bashed book sale! (This is when comics get a little scuffed in the box but are still perfectly fine. Recommended if you want to save some money; we buy them all the time!) One is all trans women and nonbinary folk, the other is all trans men and nonbinary folk, and there's a shitload of both in both! TRANS

Iron Circus have a lot of great stuff and have been selling good quality smut since at least 2012. Their Smut Peddler and Sex Machine anthologies were all enjoyable, and the digital-only Iris and Angel series is one of Mac's favorites, about an adorable Etsy-soap woman who gets involved with a crossdressing accountant who just wants to look pretty for someone (and also knows how to do small business taxes). Various pairings.

The Food Porn anthology has a lot of neat comics, AND it's a cookbook! Wowzers! (We actually stole the chicken cheese apple pie recipe for Bob's stoner pie in the Found Wanting Thanksgiving story.) Filthy Figments/Strawberry Comics have a bunch of great ebooks to check out, and they come out with new stuff (and take out old) all the time. Various pairings.

E.K. Weaver has a lot of great work in general, but she recently released Sweet Abilene, a porny side comic for her current webcomic, about a depressed asexual man who discovers he has it real bad for his trans best friend. (The main comic, Shot and Chaser, is not porny and is not yet completed, but it is queer and also quite good. Weaver's stuff in general is great; you might know her better for her earlier project, The Less Than Epic Adventures of TJ and Amal, a queer roadtrip comic that also has sex scenes in it.) FTM/M for Abilene, M/M for TJ and Amal.

Robber Robert is a sci-fi comic about gay aliens, free to read online, involving a sex shop robbery gone horribly right that makes me laugh out loud every time I read it. I didn't think I would even like it, but I highly recommend it. M/M

Kori Michele has made a bunch of great works, but I'd especially like to shout out A Lucid Date, where a trans woman has a delightful lucid dream threeway with two friendly demons. (Realizing I never thought to add that to [community profile] pluralstories...) MTF/NB/NB.

The works of Ben Mehlos! I bought the ebook of Positive Feedback, and it would most assuredly be GORGEOUS in print, which exists. Does glorious joyful things with color, can safely say I haven't seen anything like it. FTM/M

Colleen Coover's Small Favors was one of the first porny comics Mac ever loved, about a horny woman who has a lot of fun love and sex with her personified conscience, who is like if Sneak were a horndog. (Maybe out to add this to [community profile] pluralstories too...) F/F

And Phil Foglio's XXXenophile is a classic old porn comic, though you may have to hunt used copies since I think he's quietly stopped selling it til his kids grow up. He was making that back in the '80s, and it's funny! (Also, "Net Dreams," in the first paperback volume, was the first multi porno we found, though it's cyberpunk shared dreams stuff!) various, overwhelmingly F/F

Ver's Sacred Bodies isn't porn, but about a human woman marrying a sexless bird person for political reasons, and their finding of intimacy together as they get to know each other. GORGEOUS watercolor artwork, amazing bird people design.

Constructifucks Fluid Dynamics. I don't know Transformers from a hole in the ground, but let me tell you, Jerky's story about a butch lesbian vaginally fistfucking a male giant robot scratched an itch I didn't even know I had. F/X

Also, *cough* Biff and I did make a horny comic about fucking while homeless in public bathrooms, Coming In Or Staying Out, just saying. FTM/FTM.

PHOTOGRAPHY

Michael T. Rosen's photos are great, and you can freely download PDFs of his photobooks to see if you like them before shelling out for the books themselves: He does kinky erotic photography of varying types of people and has been since the '80s, and we expect his books to be invaluable photo reference.

Rebecca Swan's Assume Nothing isn't porny, but extremely genderful. You can see some of the photos here. You might be able to find copies of it for sale online still?

Not erotic, but very sweet is the photobook Loving: A Photographic History of Men In Love 1850s-1950s.

EBOOK-ONLY STUFF I HAVEN'T READ BUT KEPT AN EYE ON

The works of GC Houle. Gorgeous stark use of color. Various pairings.

The works of Draxoplasm.

Krypttids: Rebound, by Dieselbrain. The kink list says it all, really: lesbians, monster girls, tentacles, oviposition, light cumflation, big tits. I can assure you that nobody draws big tits better than Dieselbrain.
