The ER

 Mac: ugh. Spent most of yesterday and all of last night in the ER. We are okay, but have a new thing to keep an eye on. (Mori: we got a monster ovary full of blood, teeth, and hair!) I'm worn out and catching up on sleep and food (neither of which I got at the ER, since surgery was a possibility).

I have been declared Loony-Brain MVP of the month and everyone's going to spoil me rotten now. I plan to take full advantage of that because by god, I deserve it! And I'm also glad it was me. Normally Ro or M.D. would've got pulled for that, but they both have major medical phobias, so better it be me. (Though Ro stayed with me to give me company and eat pain for me.)

I think I've had it done, or something similar. It wasn't near as bad as getting biopsies of a cyst on my cervix - they use something like a hole punch and the disinfectant is nasty and means days of coffee ground like stuff seeping out.

I mean, it sucked, but mostly it was like back pain and discomfort, and I think if I wasn't such a wimp it wouldn't have been too bad

I question your self-characterization of being a wimp. :)

For example, people always expect me to feel only pressure during pap smears, and they always, always hurt. (And I get kidney stones, which if pain tolerance were the only thing that matters, I shouldn't care about the pap smears. Doesn't actually matter - still hurts!)

You should not have to assume that the pain you feel is a failing on your part!

Mori: I'm with wispfox, that sounds fucking horrible. The drainage alone sounds super nasty, especially since I'm betting tampons were a no-go afterward.

Wimp may not be accurate, but I've very sensitive and have a low pain tolerance. It's not a failing, just something I deal with

I would wish kidney stones on _no one_. Not only do they hurt to a truly ridiculous degree when they move, they get problematic if they do _not_ move - I ended up in the ER a few years ago because one was blocking my urine flow.

Mori: to be fair, a 1 cm cyst can only fit so much monstrosity. It might just be, like, little bits of tissue or something. I just think the hair and teeth image is funnier.

Glad your coffee grounds cyst is gone, at least! (Hemorrhagic cyst? That sounds like maybe a hemorrhagic)

What weeks are we looking at? I suddenly find myself with more time than I had before, but I also don't know when I will have interviews. Right now, usually, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays tend to be my most open days. We could try a weekend, but we might have to contend with more visitors.

The doctors just said it was vascular. The coffee grounds stuff was actually from the disinfectant or whatever it was. I should probably get the records for my files, since repro stuff I get done at Planned Parenthood, not my gp.

Mac: Yeah, while we were in the ER, people were checking for kidney stones, appendicitis, or ovarian cyst, and I think the one we ended up with was by far the best outcome. Nothing I have heard about kidney stones sounds like they're anything but a long-haul pain.

Mori: We are too ear-blasted to take up roller coaster riding at this stage in our life.
