Mother Wit, by Diane Mariechild

Mori: I grabbed an old copy of Mother Wit: a Feminist Guide to Psychic Development for a buck from the thrift store. I was kinda dubious, but hey, it was cheap and I'm absolutely in my zealous womon sisterhood > cisterhood phase right now. (Including working on a zine about it.)

At first, I was very unimpressed. Psychic new age culture ain't my homeland. But it's relevant for certain bits of the women's multi culture of the time (this book's from '81), and it's pretty short, so I kept trucking. Last night, while doing my electrozapping, I needed something to read, and I thought, sure, Mother Wit should put me right out.

And it DID. But not cause I was bored.

The first exercise was a relaxation exercise. (Relaxing isn't our best skill.) I wasn't really trying to do it, just reading it while my TMS machine did its work... and to my surprise, I felt it start working! Surprised, I started paying more attention, and as I read along, I felt this warm menthol tingling move up my body, in accordance with the reading. It was gonzo! We've only ever felt that kind of thing with ASMR vids, and those tend to take quite a bit longer. I never had it happen just from reading a page! By the time it was over, I felt great! (And went straight to bed, where I instantly fell asleep.) Twelve hours later and I still feel awesome!

Never had a hypnotic(?) experience like that before. It was wild! And now I'm paying way more attention to this book. It already has a bunch about how we're multidimensional beings with many sides, so it may end up being a useful multi thing?

What was the relaxation exercise?

Finding a meditation format that works to relax you and leave you feeling good is a very good thing!

Oh, and another thing--doing it regularly (changing the details a little if you get bored or feel like it) will help it work even when you are stressed out.

There are different forms of meditation, and most people find that some work better than others for them. I have some experience, though I wouldn't call myself an expert, but still, if you want to ask questions or chat about meditating, I'd be happy to share what I know.

This is awesome! Would you be willing to share the technique with me too? I'm always looking for something to help when my insomnia acts up. >_>
