Honestly, I think it's pretty much impossible to deal with memory WITHOUT distortion or confusion, under these circumstances. The False Memory Syndrome chucklefucks didn't come completely out of nowhere. It was (and is!) a thing in MPD/DID space where folks get so fixated on finding trauma that they come up with things that seem guaranteed not to be literally, corporeally true. (UFO abduction, in-utero trauma, stuff like that.) There are a lot of factors at work, which is part of why these memory work essays have a whole lot of "DO NOT DO" parts.

I mean, AllFam might give a false impression that our memory work is clear and sensible, but there are a LOT of parts that are just foggy, confused, or that we can't make heads or tails of.

Y'all might find the memories issue of Many Voices interesting and relevant if you're curious about reading about memory distortion in multiples. Some multiples, it seems, really are intensely suggestible and have memories that warp pretty easily.
