And you're right; I'm quite sure people on tumblr got the word from other plural groups, seeing as 'system' the way they use it is used the same as Usenet, dark personalities, and Livejournal used it, rather than the specific "system of alters" phrasing that seems to be more common with Kluft and such.

But yeah, redefining doctors as cultural authorities and DID as an oppressed culture is... maddening.
