Ennnnnh. Maybe? We've never done it successfully (and don't want to, it would be really bad for us), but we know other people who seem able to do it without negative effect. Our reaction is generally one of wariness, because even if everyone involved has good intentions (and sometimes they don't! It's a super easy way to abusively mindfuck someone!), it can be a reality destabilizer and easily lead to messed-up places. From what we've heard, if you do it regularly, you WILL have times where your stories don't line up, and you have to be able to deal with that without pretending it never happened or collapsing in ontological despair. Since "being real" is such a fraught subject for a lot of plurals, that can be an extremely hard conversation to have.
