Thank you for writing this! Since discovering some things about our identity, I've come out to a few close friends. Most of them fall into the "I don't really know anything about this, but you have my support if you need it" camp; but one did accuse me of the appropriation/trivialization thing before backing off. Negative coming-out experiences (from whatever closet or closets one is stuck in) definitely make any further ones more of a source of anxiety, so having a community of supportive people is important - even if it's not necessarily a culture yet.
