Hey guys, I got some new folks who joined up recently, so I'm gonna forward y'all to the Big Dreamwidth Multi Introduction Post and remind everyone that it's open unto perpetuity!  If you want to keep an eye on it without manually checking it over and over, you can track it by by clicking the little bell icon directly underneath the post body. (You can see an example of it on this post too--it's the little bell at the far right right at the bottom of this post, right under the post body and just above the words 'Reply.')

If you track it, you will get an inbox message (and/or email) whenever someone new comments, so you'll know when the party's starting up again!

Have fun and play nice all y'all!

Okay, so for Zyfron and Mystics’ stag party, pre-wedding, we went bar-hopping.  Both us and Zy were on the wagon for the night, but that’s fine, because the first bar had something way more awesome to do:

IT HAD A MECHANICAL BULL.

Zy and Mori made a solemn pact to see who would last longer while riding.  They each did three rounds.  The result: A TIE!  We still have bruises on our thighs, and of course I drew it all (and other members of the bridal party took video, which I’m sure will end up SOMEWHERE at some point).

Drunk Alaskans, by the way, are the BEST audience.  I highly endorse riding the bull at the Gaslight in Anchorage any day of the week.  Mori says that between the bull, the poledancing stage, and the jukebox, she has experienced everything she’d ever want to in a bar.

Had an awesome time. Made a 30-page travelogue comic about the trip. Got to watch Zyfron and Mystics get married. Saw moose and eagle and did not get eaten by bears. Very good, much fun. Ate reindeer.

God, we’ve known Zyfron ten years! Whaaaaaat? They were the big name behind healthymultiplicity.com for years; we were the johnny-come-lately so it seems funny that folks see it as our site now. (Don’t worry, I badgered them to do some stuff again. We’ll see if they do!) Due to reasons that likely aren’t my place to say, much of the Gemini archive has been lost. If any of you guys downloaded and saved any of it before then, it’d be a huge boon to us.

Pulled an all-nighter, then didn’t get in until 3 AM due to flight delays. We are wicked sleep-deprived and blurry slurry right now.

We will be out of town until Sat. June 24th!  Likely no internet.  See you when we're back!

We were well enough to go to our neighborhood Pride block party!

I found a nice shady un-crowded spot near the entrance and the ATM and did free queer tarot readings for folks, using my Thea's Tarot deck, a radical lesbian feminist deck from a local! :D I did maybe a dozen readings, and some of them gave me money.  It let me meet all sorts of new people and chat with them and share this little hint of local queer history with them!

And I got a purple hoodie from a yard sale!  A past owner sewed yellow spikes and purple wings on it, so it is now my SPYRO THE DRAGON HOODIE!  I can't believe I found it for two bucks!

What a great Pride.  And Biff had a great time too!

We found a book in the library, Working Like Dogs: The Service Dogs Guidebook, by Marcie Davis and Melissa Bunnell.  This book is concise, informative, and I feel it'd be helpful for anyone wanting to learn about service dogs, whether for themselves or a writing project.

Making a post for our own reference later, should we ever forget and wish to return to this title.

I accidentally found a Thea's Tarot deck at a garage sale for a dollar today!  Apparently it is kind of hard to find and buy now.  I'm excited!  I like it.

I just realized that even though I CREATED a commissions info thing, I never actually posted it. No wonder folks don't realize I'm open for commissions. So here it is: How To Commission LB!

lb_lee: Biff, a brown, frizzy-haired guy with freckles. (biff)
You know, these days I wonder if the reason Biff hates all sci-fi and fantasy is just that he's never gotten over Back to the Future.

On the plus side, I can easily revive all the memories of his most annoyed child schoolyard days just by shouting, "HEY MCFLY" at him.

There must be some bibliophilic older queer woman in my neighborhood who keeps dropping her queer books in the free library. Whoever she is, THANK YOU LADY!

From this hypothetical human, I have managed to get my hands on Exile and Pride, a really crappy pink book about multiplicity that I ditched, and now The Lusty Lady which is about the woman-owned peep show by the same name in Seattle. Back in the 90s, a photographer wanted to tell the dancers’ stories, only to be told that if she wanted to get it, she needed to work there. So she did, and the book is made up of her photos and work stories.

I picked the book up because I’ve heard of the Lusty Lady and wanted to learn about it, only to get an awesome reference text of queerness, sex work, and women in the 90s.

The Mother of All Plagues
Series: Reverend Alpert
Word Count: 2000
Summary: Perfection and Reverend Alpert encounter something they can't fight.
Notes: This story was sponsored by the Patreon crew, and is the only Alpert story not to be in chronological order; it comes after The Deity of Forever Road and before The Librarian. With this story, the first arc of the Reverend Alpert stories is concluded; the next arc will focus on Most Revered Dorothy Ives.

By now, Perfection had long since learned the rules and rhythms of the road. The days fell into a pattern: she and Alpert would wake, have breakfast (a mix of provisions, supplemented by Perfection’s hunting and Alpert’s gathering), and clean up. Then, while Perfection took down their tent and started packing up, Alpert would cast a direction work.

Huh.  Interesting.

Apparently when I'm in a really bad mental way, the music of PengoSolvent helps.  I randomly grabbed their Leave It Less album, because I liked 'Tangential Friend' and I'm finding it's perky enough to lighten my mood without being grating, and quiet enough to be calming.  I'm not really good at categorizing music, but it's kinda glitchy and quietly ambient, and it makes me think of watching clouds go by.

They also did an Ib song called 'Let's Keep Our Flowers' which I also liked.

Hey guys, since the winner of today's poll is a short one, I have a thought!

The Mother of All Plagues isn't really a story suited to expansion like the others.  It was intended to be short.  That leaves a good seventy-five dollars (or 1500 words) free, which seems a shame to waste.  To make up the deficit, I'll be posting a non-fiction essay called Ligeia Grows Up to go with it.

Ligeia Grows Up is about the influence Piers Anthony's work has had on our life, for better or for worse.  Due to the nature of its content, I will not be posting it publicly.  Patreon folks, of course, will get it, but for the rest of you, if you want access to the essay, please let me know, so I can insure you see it.

Thanks so much, guys!  Mother of All Plagues is thankfully the last remnant from the older days when my stories were shorter.  Now my Patreon is at a more reliable level, so I have a better idea of the word count necessary month by month.  Hopefully, things will run pretty smoothly from here on out.

I hope you guys enjoy both works when I post them!

(Not gonna lie guys, I will probably not be able to keep doing this much longer.  I just do not seem able to concentrate, and I also feel weird, like I'm co-opting birch_household's work and trying to make my individual DW into a comm, when I've never really been a mod or comm-making kind of person. x_x)

Okay, okay, so here’s the plot of Virtual Mode, the Piers Anthony book that has made me so fucking mad.

Colene is a fourteen-year-old girl who’s suicidal and has BPD.  The primary expression of both of these things is that she feels a deep craving to tantalize adult men with her body--stripping naked in front of them, flashing them, showing off her boobs, offering to sell her body, that kind of thing.  The first physical characteristic that is described to the reader (besides her slashed up wrists) are her boobs.

Don’t worry, Piers Anthony makes sure to tell you in elaborate detail how hot her tits are.

Rape, incest, and general awfulness behind the cut because Piers Anthony is awful and I AM SO ANGRY. )
